The middle of nowhere

Steve's sister Chris invited us to her cabin for the weekend. When they said it was in a remote location they were not kidding. After leaving the highway, we ventured down a rocky dirt road for an hour and glad we had the kids take a bathroom brake earlier. After about 14 miles our van was not going to make it any further. We all piled in Chris and Dave' s Expedition (specially designated cabin car:because of the overgrown brush pinstripping) and made the steep descent down a mountain full of swich backs. At one point Dave told me to look at this "great" shed on the side of the road, just to distract me from the blind turn and steep hill. Needless to say I screemed (first time visitor ploy). Chris and Dave own 200 acres in the middle of nowhere (wasatch/cache mountains, aka BFE). It is beautiful, thick greenry, springs running out the side of the mountain, ponds and wildlife. We went on several hikes, learned all about stinging netal, tics, animal feces, atv rides, dutch oven cooking and star gazing. It was relaxing and fun to listen to their stories of "close incounters" with animals:moose,mountain lions, coyote, and something that poops in a large pile down a crevice.
